Niihau (The Forbidden Isle) is the second smallest main island in the State of Hawaii. Not many royalty-free images are available for the island, but I did find one decent image.
The population of Niihau was 170 as of 2010.
Niihau has no telephone service, no power lines, and no automobiles. Horses and bicycles are the only forms of transportation.
In the 2004 United States presidential election, all but one of the 40 votes on Niihau was cast for President George W. Bush.
Nearly all of the inhabitants on Niihau are are Native Hawaiians.
