Niihau (The Forbidden Isle) is the second smallest main island in the State of Hawaii. Not many royalty-free images are available for the island, but I did find one decent image.

• The population of Niihau was 170 as of 2010.

• Niihau has no telephone service, no power lines, and no automobiles. Horses and bicycles are the only forms of transportation.

• In the 2004 United States presidential election, all but one of the 40 votes on Niihau was cast for President George W. Bush.

• Nearly all of the inhabitants on Niihau are are Native Hawaiians.
