Disney announced in their earnings report yesterday it intends to remove its movies from Netflix in the near future. If you're expecting them to sign a deal with a competitor guess again.
They're planning on launching a direct-to-consumer streaming service for the United States in 2019, and expanding globally. All Disney movies will exclusively steam on that platform.
This announcement is a low blow to casual Disney fans like myself, who doesn't want to subscribe to another streaming service just to watch a few movies a year.
Disney should consider offering Netflix a new limited deal that would place their latest movies on that service a year after it's released on their streaming service.
