Return with us now to those thrilling days of Sun & Moon.
I was shocked to see Pokémon Trading Card Game Sleeved Booster Packs for sale at my local store. They had roughly 48 packs of the following products (along with the number of cards that's worth more than the price of a pack as of this writing) for sale:
-
2025 Scarlet & Violet Journey Together (11).
-
2025 Scarlet & Violet Destined Rivals (27).
-
2025 Mega Evolution Phantasmal Flames (10).
All but one customer limited their purchases to a few packs. The Lone Scalper was on speakerphone with another scalper who asked him to purchase hundreds of dollars' worth of packs. These two scalpers alone purchased most of the packs!
It's foolish to scalp Journey Together and Phantasmal Flames, considering they're weak sets with very few hits that are worth more than the price of a pack.
For whatever reason, my local store isn't imposing a limit on Pokémon Trading Card Game items. Other branches have imposed a limit over a month ago.
I ended up pulling a hit from three of my four packs. I pulled a Double Rare, a Secret Rare, and a Special Illustration Rare. I'll post these breaks at a later time.
Last holiday, I found Surging Sparks Sleeved Booster Packs for sale during the holiday season, and that was the last Pokémon TCG product that I could find in my local stores until the spring of 2025. The pattern will most likely repeat itself.
