Question: Why doesn't DayZ support the Windows XP operating system?![]()
Answer: Windows XP is an outdated and unsafe operating system (OS) that's no longer supported by Microsoft, and most chipset manufacturers.
Although it's estimated that 25.31 percent of PC users are still using Windows XP as of June 2014,[1] keep in mind that DayZ is developed by Bohemia Interactive, a small independent developer with only 160 employees[2] that's currently working on two major projects. It's better business wise for that company to use their small resources on technology that's still supported by Microsoft.
Notes: Some Windows XP users with a DirectX 9.0c GPU have reported that DayZ runs on their setup -- but their game runs at a very low frame rate (5 FPS, etc.), and frequently glitches and/or crashes.
