"Free Battle" turns into "Play to Lose" for everyone else.

For the past 10 days, a lot of Japanese Pokemon X/Y players have been taking advantage of their early access to the Pokemon Bank service, by using only Uber Pokemon (Darkrai, Arceus, etc.) so that they can quickly boost their win rating.

As you may have read, Nintendo delayed their Pokemon Bank service for everyone else. Here's their excuse for the delay:

"Nintendo and The Pokémon Company International have postponed the launch of Pokemon Bank and Poke Transporter - two software applications that were originally scheduled to launch for Nintendo 3DS on Dec. 27 - due to a large volume of traffic to the Nintendo Network service. Due to the high traffic, players are having trouble setting up Nintendo Network IDs and downloading content in the Nintendo eShop on both Wii U and Nintendo 3DS. We truly regret the inconvenience, and wish to reassure everyone that providing a solution is our top priority. We apologize for the delay and thank you for your continued patience," Nintendo announced.

For starters, Nintendo should have never released a major Nintendo 3DS update in December. Secondly, they should have hired someone that could have foreseen that Pokemon is popular....

It's rumored that the Pokemon Bank service will be released on January 7, 2014 in North America, but that rumor is most likely false, because Nintendo has yet to mention a possible release date. Whatever the case... we'll keep you updated.
