Another one bites the dust.
Ubisoft announced they will retire the online functionality and servers for the Microsoft Windows PC version of Assassin’s Creed Liberation HD on September 1, 2022. This means you will be unable to do the following:
- Play multiplayer game modes.
- Use online features.
- Access/install/play DLC.
- Access in-game Ubisoft Connect Rewards.
- Link Ubisoft accounts in-game.
Some news outlets reported false information the single player mode will also be inaccessible following this date -- but that's not the case. Steam confirmed the base game will continue to be downloadable and playable on this date if you own the game. What's not clear is if Ubisoft will prevent consumers from purchasing the base game on this date.
Fans wasn't happy with this news. They flooded the reviews on Steam with "Overwhelmingly Negative" comments. Prior to this announcement reviews was "Mixed."
Important note: Assassin's Creed III Remastered that includes Assassin's Creed Liberation Remastered is not affected by this shutdown. This isn't surprising considering this version was released on March 29, 2019.
