Where were these fans in 2021?
Demand for Metroid Dread on the Nintendo Switch has skyrocketed following the announcement of Metroid Ravenous for the Switch 2, with brand-new copies now selling for upwards of $130.
Although Nintendo hasn’t revealed the full story of Ravenous yet, some fans have already pointed out several details from the trailer that suggest a connection to Dread:

Samus has her post-Dread Metroid abilities.

The game is another 2D Metroid.

Its story starts with Samus being attacked and stranded.

The new energy-draining mechanic directly parallels what happened to Samus at the end of Dread.
Soon after Ravenous was announced, every copy of Dread that was sitting in my local stores for years quickly sold out!
Considering Dread was released on October 8, 2021, it’s hard to believe that so many Metroid fans waited until Ravenous was announced to pick up Dread.
With Dread now out of print, bringing the game to Switch 2 would give longtime fans another chance to experience one of Samus’ best adventures without having to pay scalper prices.
