4 GB of data may have had something to do with my issue.![]()
The Windows 11 Spotify app was crashing and refusing to load, even if I restarted my PC. The app briefly showed up in my Task Manager and disappeared.
I tried to repair the app, but that didn't resolve my issue, so I was forced to do a hard reset using these steps that were written by Grok:
-
Open Settings: Press Windows + I or click the Start menu and select Settings.
-
Navigate to Apps: Go to Apps > Installed apps.
-
Find the App: Scroll through the list or use the search bar to locate the app you want to reset.
-
Access App Settings: Click the three dots (…) next to the app’s name and select Advanced options. (Note: Not all apps support resetting; if "Advanced options" isn’t available, the reset feature may not be supported for that app.)
-
Reset the App: In the Advanced options menu, scroll to the Reset section. Click Reset. You’ll be prompted to confirm; click Reset again. This clears the app’s data and settings, restoring it to its default state.
Important note: Resetting an app deletes its data (e.g., settings, cache, or local files). Back up any important data if needed.
Resetting this app resolved my issue and reduced its usage from over 4000 MB to 480 MB. This is a year's worth of data. I normally reset the apps on all of my devices annually, but for whatever reason, I forgot to reset this app.
