The obvious and not so obvious reasons why that card sold well.2006-artbox-harry-potter-and-the-chamber-of-secrets-authentic-costume-c10-emma-watson

A heavly damaged 2006 Artbox Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets Authentic Costume C10 Emma Watson (Hermione Granger) trading card, serial numbered 107/165, recently sold for a whopping $113.62 (plus shiping) on eBay!

That card has four damaged corners, and a crease that runs down the card on the front and back. So why would anyone pay top dollar for a damaged card in Very Good to Excellent condition?

The most obvious reason for that card selling well is its rarity of only 165 copies.

The not so obvious reason is that card includes a piece of the blue jumper that Watson worn, which is a color that's rarely seen in her Harry Potter costume cards. Most of her other costume cards features a pink, red, Beige, brown or black relic.

Listed below are the top 5 best selling Emma Watson Harry Potter costume cards on eBay over the past few months. Please note that dual costume cards featuring another actor/actress aren't included in this chart.

Artbox Harry Potter Set

Costume Card Serial Numbered Sold For* Relic Notes
Chamber of Secrets C10 107/165 $113.62 Blue relic.
Prisoner of Azkaban N/A 45/450 $70.63 Heavy soiled pink relic.

Deathly Hallows Part 1 C4 29/280 $61.00 Red, white blue plaid relic.
2007 Half-Blood Prince Update C3 142/280 $59.99 Beige and gray relic.

Although that Chamber of Secrets card is very rare, I didn't expect it to outsell a relic that was heavy soiled in production.
