Or are buyers willing to pay more for the same service?
COMC announced yesterday, new consignment fees that will be in effect on Saturday, July 1, 2017. The new fees is both good and bad for the Pokemon Trading Card Game market. Here's why:
The good: The "Current-Year Select 1-Week" service will cost $0.60 per card, with a guaranteed 1-week or faster submission. This is a fantastic service for newly released Ultra Rare or better cards.
The bad: The "Basic 2-Month" service will now cost $0.30 per card (previously $0.25 per card), with a guaranteed 2-month or faster submission. This will really hurt the bottom line for less sought after cards.
You'd assume sellers and buyers would receive basic features for that price, but that's not the case. Here's why:
A lot of damaged cards is missing condition notes. This makes it time-consuming to shift through worthless cards.
There's no "rarity" and "features" checkbox. It's sometimes impossible to tell if a card is holographic.
In order to justify the fee increase for Pokemon cards, COMC would need to add those features.
