DayZ: Free?dayz-01

Some gamers have been holding out on purchasing Bohemia Interactive's DayZ because they're convinced that game will eventually go "free-to-play."

DayZ is a massively multiplayer online (MMO) game that's still in the "Early Access" stage, with a list price of $29.99. Once the full version of that game is released, the list price is expected to increase to $59.99.

Bohemia Interactive has only released one free-to-play title, which was ARMA 2: Free back in June of 2011 -- but that version was quickly removed from Steam in early 2012.

Because Bohemia Interactive was quick to remove their first free-to-play MMO title from Steam, I doubt they would give that model another try with DayZ.

I can see why some gamers are holding out for a free-to-play version of DayZ, because a lot of players reported it can take hours just to find a decent weapon; meanwhile, the free-to-play model could offer an instant weapon for a low cost.

Question: Should DayZ go free-to-play?
