Speaking with Famitsu, Nintendo has revealed their upcoming Switch console will not be backwards compatible with 3DS cartridges and Wii U discs.[1]
Please note this does not rule out the possibility of 3DS and Wii U games being backwards compatible with the Switch via digital downloads.
This news isn't surprising considering the Switch reveal trailer showcases a console with thicker cartridges, and a lack of a disc slot.
