Latest patch could make your game unplayable!
Endnight Games latest 0.04 patch for The Forest is causing major frame rate issues for some players, some of which reported their frame rate dropped 30 frame per second. Here's why:
"[Endnight Games] added Global Illumination into the game. Which is the effect of light bouncing off a surface to light another. Unfortunately this is a very high end effect, and the effect is not scaled with graphical settings," Steam user TemplarGFX informed players.[1]
If you suspect your PC isn't powerful enough to render global illumination, you can start Steam in offline mode (simply disable your Internet connection) to disable automatic updates for The Forest before it's updated to version 0.04.
Update (July 23, 2014): TemplarGFX released a patch to disable global illumination in The Forest.
