There's a catch.

I bought Red Dead Redemption 2 for the PlayStation 4 for just $2. Sounds like a steal, right? There’s just one problem: it’s missing the Play Disc.

Instead, the case contains Fallout 4: Game of the Year Edition for the PS4. Since I already have this game on PC, the disc is of little use to me.

The cheapest replacement Play Disc I could find costs around $12, bringing the total cost of Red Dead Redemption 2 to $14. So much for a $2 bargain!

Yes, I did check the case before purchasing the game. However, for whatever reason, I assumed the extra disc was a Blu-ray containing bonus content, such as movies, documentaries, and behind-the-scenes footage.

I don't blame the bargain store, which operates more like a yard sale. I only have myself to blame for not doing my research before making the purchase.

I’ve never played a Red Dead Redemption game, not the original, not the sequel, and not even for a few minutes at a friend’s house. In the years since Red Dead Redemption 2 was released, I’ve seen countless clips of it on social media, but I’ve yet to experience the game for myself. It remains on my ever-growing gaming backlog, where it’ll stay until I can find an affordable replacement Play Disc that isn’t scratched to hell.

Considering that a loose copy of Fallout 4: Game of the Year Edition has a market value of around $16, I didn't actually lose money on this purchase. I could sell the disc and use the proceeds to buy a Red Dead Redemption 2 Play Disc.

On the bright side, I also scored Marvel’s Spider-Man for the PS4 for just $2! As the old saying goes, you win some, you lose some.
