Delivery attempt failed.
My local USPS hub received my package on Sunday. Just three hours later, they attempted to deliver it to a post office that was closed on Sunday.
“We were unable to deliver your package,” the USPS tracking update read. “Because the business was closed. We will redeliver on the next business day. No action needed.”
Wait a minute. Why would USPS attempt to deliver a package to its own post office when they know it’s closed? The people making the delivery work there!
Now I’m just hoping they don’t attempt another delivery today, because the post office is closed today in observance of Columbus Day. Another failed delivery attempt could result in the package being returned to the sender.
Any error in handling or processing this shipment could result in an unnecessary financial loss. Although I did not pay for shipping, the seller reserves the right to deduct a restocking fee from any eligible refund. Beyond that potential deduction, I would incur an additional financial loss because I purchased these items at a rare, deeply discounted price and may be unable to repurchase them at the same price.
The bottom line: It is essential that USPS accurately record and promptly update the package’s tracking status to ensure proper handling, maintain an accurate tracking history, and prevent avoidable financial harm.
