What an odd time to incrase in value.
An unknown number of sellers appear to be attempting to push up the perceived value of the 2024 Pokémon Trading Card Game Scarlet & Violet Surging Sparks Double Rare 076/191 Latias ex.
The card normally trades in the neighborhood of $5 to $6 for an ungraded Near Mint copy, with recent market trackers putting its value around that range.
That makes a handful of sales around $14 particularly interesting. Those transactions are roughly two to three times the price buyers typically pay for the card. While unusually high sales do not, by themselves, prove market manipulation, they can create a misleading impression of the card's true market value, especially when someone points to isolated transactions rather than a larger sample of completed sales.
It is also important not to confuse this card with the much more valuable Special Illustration Rare 239/191 Latias ex from the same set. That card has a dramatically higher value.
The regular Latias ex is therefore not an obscure card with only a few copies available. There are a lot of copies listed for sale.
Are the $14 sales legitimate? They may be. A particular copy could command a premium because of exceptional centering, condition, seller reputation, shipping terms, or simply a buyer willing to pay more than the prevailing rate.
If the elevated sales continue and become widespread across multiple marketplaces, however, that would be a different story, and would provide much stronger evidence that the card's market price is genuinely changing.
But a few high-priced transactions should not automatically be interpreted as evidence that the entire market has moved to $14.
Important note: “H” is the oldest legal regulation mark in the 2026 Standard format, making it the most likely mark to rotate out of Standard in April 2027. Given that H-mark cards are approaching rotation, it would be unusual for an older card to naturally appreciate this late in its competitive lifespan.
