Неожиданная встреча.![]()
It was March 17, 2001. The Grigoriy Clan made their way to the school where the Portuguese Guy was scheduled to work on Monday. They slipped through a tiny gap near the basement that was filled with ancient dirt.
The classrooms upstairs still carried the mingled scent of chalk dust and fresh paint, left behind by the custodians who had worked through Spring Break.
Morning light spills through the wide windows, painting warm stripes across the desks. The hallway bulletin boards are filled with bright island artwork. Shelves hold well-loved books of local stories beside jars of seashells. The classrooms rest in peaceful stillness, surrounded by the vivid colors and gentle beauty of Hawaii.
Between the vintage 1970s seating, green floors, and sturdy brown pillars, the cafeteria felt less like a school lunchroom and more like a picnic tucked beneath the trees.
The attic of the main building, full of nooks and crannies, was a perfect spot to relax. Soon after the sun rose, a familiar call floated through the field. Observer Grigoriy froze and peered through the ventilation holes. “That call… it can’t be!”
From the walls above came Commander Grigoriy and Technician Grigoriy, coming down with joyful squeaks. "IT'S THE ELITE PLOVERS!"
The mice rushed out from the attic, their whiskers twitching with excitement. Ninja, the Pacific golden plover, immediately recognized the trio. He called Tweet-Tweet and Couch Potato, who were searching for food at the same school.
They danced in circles beneath the Monkeypod tree while the birds hopped and flapped happily around them.
“We missed your stories,” said Couch Potato.
“And we missed your songs,” Technician Grigoriy added.
The animals spent the whole day catching up. The birds shared tales of distant forests and a volcano erupting, while the mice told stories of their Downtown adventures.
Commander Grigoriy mentioned they're intrigued by a human they nicknamed the "Portuguese Guy," who's scheduled to work at this school on Monday as a janitor.
The plovers were excited because the school is a mess. The other plovers didn't claim the land around this school because it was challenging to peck around the trash.
As the sun set, the friends gathered together and watched the sky turn golden. They knew that no matter how far apart they traveled, their friendship would always bring them back to one another.
